About the Author
Hello, everyone! My name is Rafael Torres, from Fortaleza, Brazil. I'm here to talk about the things I know. Which are basically classical music and depression. I am a musician, from a family of musicians, and I'm graduated in Composition from UECE (Ceará State University). Depression seems to be a displaced subject here (we will see about that). The fact is that this blog can help many people: from those who are feeling blue to those who want to learn about the greatest human undertakin.
Don't be ashamed to get in touch with me (grupoargonautas@gmail.com). Now that I'm writing in English (this blog is a branch from my brazilian blog (www.araraneon.com.br).

Argonautas
Since I was about 16 (1997), and developed a great friendship with Bob and Raphael Gadelha, we started a trio that would later become a quartet: Argonautas. We would write songs and lyrics, make the arrangements and play. We performed in almost all theaters of Fotaleza.

Writting Scores
I can read music since I was a child. Im 2007 (I was 27), Liduíno Pitombeira came bach from Louisiana and started the Music Department - Composition in UECE (Ceará State University). For his course I composed several pieces, like a Woodwind Quintet, some Symphonyc Poems... With his help (and Professor Alfredo Barros, later) I was writing music for orchestra! The best universities in Brasil are gratuitious, but you have to study like crazy to ingress.

Interiores (2009)
In 2009, Argonautas recorded their first disc - Interiores (Interiors) - The name can refer to small cities in the interior of Brazil or to the interior of a person - their truths, their beliefs or, in my case, their monsters.
Only the Argonautas sing in this disc. But we have, as guests, the gruop Ad Libitum, of recorders, formed by my mother and friends.
The Argonautas consisted, then, of Rafael Torres and Ayrton Pessoa (several instruments, compositions, lyrics and vocals), Ednar Pinho (double bass) and Igor Ribeiro (drums and percussion.

Jangada Azul (2017)
Years later, after mant pauses, Argonautas enter a somewhat productive period. It starts with the recording and release of their second album, Jangada Azul (Blue Raft). It's a completely authoral album (Interiors had music by Sivuca and Chico Buarque - "João e Maria" - and Luiz Gonzaga and Humberto Teixeira - "Qui Nem Jiló", dont try to translate it, it's difficult even in portuguese).
Anyway, I'll make available only my songs, at this page, as they´re part of my soul. But you can hear the whole thing on Spotify etc, and in our website: https://www.grupoargonautas.com.br/.
Choro Dela is a song I made for my daughter, from all my heart. Miudilha do Beijo (perhaps Miniature of the Kiss), the most beautiful music in the world, is an instrumental piece I made for my wife.

In this album we had the participation of great singers and musitians.
- Mônica Salmaso, singing "A Permuta dos Santos" (the greatest singer in Brazil);
- Renato Braz, singing "Sobre Todas as Coisas" (possibly the greatest masculin voice in Brazil);
- Edu Lobo, singing "Meia-Noite" (the man himself);
- Marco Forte, singing "Ave Rara" (a friend of mine that lives in Rio and has the most gorgeous voice;
- Eriberto Porto, flute in Corrupião/Ode aos Ratos (my former flute teacher, plays like no one).
I myself sing "Forrobodó", "Valsa Brasileira", "Pra Dizer Adeus", "Canção do Amanhecer", "A Moça do Sonho", "Ode Aos Ratos", "Beatriz" (my daughter's name), and "Opereta de Casamento".
My friend and one of the Argonautas, Ayrton Pessoa (or "Bob"), sings and plays the piano in "O Circo Místico".
I provided all the arrangements, except for "O Circo Místico".

EP Notas Soltas (2022)
Our latest release was an EP, with four songs, 2 of whitch, mine. It's called "Notas Soltas" (Loose Notes). We have a video of one of my songs "A Solidão" (Solitude).
